THE JOB IS COMPLETED
The exterior refurbishment of the Rahiri mansion is now finished. The mansion now gleams in the afternoon sunlight and now looks like it did in the days it was built (around 1895). Plans are now underway to develop the mansion with 3 main uses:

  1. Administration centre for the school housing the main office, Principal's office, Bursar's office and recovery room.

  2. Small group teaching spaces and rooms particularly to be used by our senior secondary classes.

  3. Seminar and conference rooms for school and public use.
THE ASTRO TURF COURT IS FINISHED
The completed Astro Turf Multi purpose sports court is now being well used by classes and sports teams throughout the week. New mobile netball and basketball goalposts have been installed, a movable tennis net is ready to be used for tennis and volleyball and badminton poles are available for those codes when required. The surface is able to be used throughout the year as it is quick-draining, leaving no puddles and wet spots.

LIBRARY
The school library is stocked with over 10,000 fiction and non-fiction books, encyclopaedias, posters, videos, CD-Roms, tapes and games. The library is fully automated with terminals that allow students to access information through the Internet and other information databases. All students are allowed to borrow books from the library within their privilege level.

COMPUTER ROOM
The school Computer Laboratory has 25 PC computers all networked to a server. A data projector allows teachers to demonstrate computer technique so that students can copy technique at their own workstation. Commonly used programmes such as Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Access and Powerpoint are used in lessons from Year 3 to Year 13. Students are also taught touch typing and Information Management skills. The school Computer Committee is currently placing networked computers in primary classrooms for teacher and student use.

SCIENCE LABORATORY
The school science laboratory is equipped with all the facilities and equipment needed in a modern school science laboratory. Recent developments include a roof-mounted data projector and internet-linked desk computer.

ARTROOM
A specialised Artroom is used for Year 7-13 art. Equipment includes a printing press, pottery wheel, pottery furnace and general printing and painting equipment and utensils. Hebron corridors and classroom walls are adorned with quality artwork and murals.

FOOD & TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY ROOM
The Food and Textile Technology Room boasts 5 cooking units (stove, sink, bench and all the necessary implements), sewing machines and overlockers, a washing machine and dryer. Year 7-10 students receive training in food and soft material technology in the room for 1½ hours a week.

SWIMMING POOL
A 12m x 6m swimming pool is well used by primary classes in the summer months for swimming tuition and water sports. Because the pool was originally built for Karitane nurses to swim in, it is too deep for the 5 and 6 year olds and too shallow for our secondary students who travel to the Philips Aquatic Centre to practise their swimming skills, play water polo, etc. The pool was recently painted and a new filter installed.

HARD MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY
Year 7-10 students study Hard Materials Technology each week in our "multi-purpose" Artroom. Mr Grant Pollock, a very experienced Technology teacher, teaches small groups on Thursdays and Fridays.
