Accounting: Year 13 / NCEA Level 3

Entry Requirements

At least an achievement in AS 90223, AS 90224 and 1 other Level 2 Accounting achievement standard or at the discretion of the Accounting teacher.


Aims

The course aims to provide students with an understanding of the:
  • conceptual basis of accounting
  • methods of processing accounting data
  • preparation of financial reports
  • internal controls for a manufacturing job cost system

Assessment

Hebron's Year 13 Accounting course will contribute 21 credits towards the Level 3 National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA).

The credits will be spread over a mixture of externally assessed and internally assessed achievement standards.

One of the achievement standards involves preparing a professional report on the analysis, interpretation and recommendation of a publicly listed company's annual reports.

This course provides a foundation for the study of Accounting at university and other tertiary institutions.
