Room 14 Class
Room 14 is a Year 4 class at Hebron Christian College. There are 23 students: 9 girls and 14 boys with ages ranging from 8 years to 10 years. There are many nationalities represented in the class including Indian, Chinese, South Africian, Samoan, Croatian, European, Korean, Fijian, Australian, Maori, New Zealand. The class is made up of many talented students with musical, sporting and artistic abilities. Gymnastics


The class is enjoying gymnastics lessons at the local Waitakere Gymnastics Club. The children are experiencing a large variety of skills and developing spring, flight and landing plus rotation and rolling skills.
Reading and writing
Reading over the year takes many forms. Sometimes it is a shared book, or reading school journals (doing the plays is a favourite), SRA and individual reading books. Often the emphasis is on answering comprehension questions and building up their vocabulary. Mathematics
For this particular year there is an emphasis on learning the tables from 1 to 12. All the usual topics are covered too - number,measurement, geometry and statistics. There are lots of fun activities like the drawing of blocks on isometric paper, tangrams, etc.
Music
Music is a highlight of the week with the children learning about Italian Music terms, and how the tempo speeds relate to animals! Room 14 gained 100% in over half the students tests so far this term. We are now playing glockenspeils and learning to play by ear....
Cross Country
The class has competed resently in the school-wide cross country and we have had awesome weather to train and then have the event. Some children ran extremely well.
Topic
This term we are studying the theme 'God is Generous' We are having a lot of fun looking at amazing aspects of N.Z. and what God has given us to enjoy.
