There are several nationalities including European, Korean, Chinese, Samoan, Tongan, and Indian. There is a wide range of sporting ability in the class and some children are very musically talented. Room 7 also has some very artistic and creative students as the Artwork displayed in the corridor outside our classroom will testify.

Term 3 Theme

- God is Faithful

Our theme for Term 3 is 'God is Faithful - He wants us to be faithful. Throughout all of time God has proven Himself to be faithful. His Word tells us that He will never leave or forsake us. He hears us when we call; He catches us when we fall. He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all that we ask or think. What an awesome GOD.

Book Week and the Character Parade

In Week 5 Hebron held its Book Week. We had visiting authors come to our Assembly and into our classrooms to talk about how they find inspiration to write their books. Some of the Secondary students also came and presented items in our classrooms based on different well read books. On Friday the children formed groups and took part in a Literacy type of tabloid sports run by the Year 13s. The activities were much loved and enjoyed by all the children.
However, the highlight of the week was the character parade held on Tuesday afternoon where the children got the chance to dress up as their favourite book characters and parade around the school then walk across to the Everill Orr Village to parade around for the elderly residents there. The children of Room 7 were beautifully turned out and if you click on the link below you can see just how fine they looked.

Rising to the Cell Phone Challenge.

As we go into Term 3 we in Room 7 have collected 68 cell phones. We are really keen on the idea of Hebron winning an Active Board that everyone will benefit from using. Room 7 is still leading the competition in both the Junior and Middles Schools. The competition is continuing until the end of the year so we are still keen to collect more old cell phones. We only need 230 more and the Active Board is ours. So, if you know somebody out there who has 50 or 60 old cell phones that they don't want and are willing to pass them onto Room 7 then we would be able to be the overall winners and receive a really good prize. Way to go, Room 7. An excellent effort on your part.

We now have two photos showing Mr Breetvelt receiving some of the many cell phones Room 7 has collected so far.

Term 3:TOPIC

Fins and Feathers!!
We are focusing on 'Fins and Feathers' this term for Topic. Isn't it amazing how God much such interesting creatures- no two species are exactly alike. Some birds fly; some don't. The shape of a bird's beak will tell you alot about the type of food it eats. Some birds build nests in trres. Some make their nests on the ground. Some birds will even lay their eggs in another bird's nest. As for fish. Well, there is just so much we have to learn! AND we will be doing just that this term.

ART: Learning to draw fish

The children have been learning to draw fish. They learn how to draw their fish by following as I lead them through a 'step by step' process on the whiteboard. Below are two examples of fish modelled on the whiteboard.

The children follow the step by step process then colour in their fish. As you can see by the results their fish are beautiful. The fish on the left was drawn by Jacqueline; the fish to the right is Joyce's masterpiece and the rainbow coloured fish at the bottom was drawn by Veronika.

Following 'Fins and Feathers' the children are going to learn all about the greatest rugby team the world has ever known; the All Blacks. More about that later. Then we will be having a little look at our brains and how they function. Have you ever asked yourself just why your brain is so important? By the end of our unit every single child in Rm 7 will be able to tell anybody who asks the answer to that question.

Pet Day
Students from Room 7 won 3 awards at the Junior Pet Day held in Week 8.

Here is a photo of our 2 judges; Mrs Hayes and Mrs Laughland. If you want to see more photos of the children with their pets.

SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM TERMs 1 and 2:
Life Education for Room 7.

In Term 2 The Life Education mobile classroom came to Hebron. Room 7 learned all about being V.I.Ps - very important people. They also learned about their bodies and where certain organs are in their bodies. They learned that the heart is the largest muscle and that it pumps blood all around their bodies. They also learned the importance of having lots of exercise, eating the right food to give them energy and about how they breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. They got to meet Harold a giraffe puppet who is a V.I.G. or a very important giraffe and Tam who is a life size plastic see through female torso which displays all the organs of the body.

Here are some comments from three of our Room 7 students regarding their visit to the Life Education mobile classroom and what they learned there.

Today we went to life Education Trust. We learned about our body. We got to see Harold. I know where my heart is.

My lungs help breath in Oxygen. You breathe out Carbon dioxide.

From Jordan

We went to life Education trust I saw Tam made of plastic who looks like human being. I learned that you breathe Oxygen. You breathe out Carbon dioxide.

We also saw a giraffe that is 6 years old.

Mother's Day
The children have all been very busy making Mother's Day cards and hearts and writing Mother's Day accrostic poems. There are some very special women going to receive these tokens of their children's love and affection this Sunday.

Here is Keziah, Suhyun, Rei and Jordan with their cards and poems.

We even CELEBRATE birthdays in Room 7.

In Room 7 we like to think of ourselves as a family so therefore when one of us has a birthday then we really like to celebrate the occasion with them. Jacqueline had her birthday on Wednesday June 8th and she brought along a beautiful chocolate cake from the Cheesecake Shop to share with the whole class. It was so yummy.

Here is a photo of Jacqueline with a few of her classmates and that beautiful chocolate cake.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM TERM 1: Lane Smith
In Term 1 we were privileged to have Mr Lane Smith in our class. Lane has completed his studies and is now a REAL teacher. He is back home in Ohio and plans to find a job closer to home than NZ is so unfortunately he will not be returning any time soon.

Mr Conway, Katies dad, came in on Mr Smith's last day to take some photos of the children having their final P.E. lesson with him.
