SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
Hebron Christian College bases its educational philosophy on the Biblical truth that God exists and all things were made by Him through His Son Jesus, in whom lie all God's treasures of wisdom and knowledge (John 1:3, Colossians 2:3).
We believe that God requires each child's parents to educate them in the ways of God and the school has a delegated responsibility to assist and support the education programme begun in the home from birth (Ephesians 6:4). To this end, the school sees its role as that of a servant working with and supporting the home and not as a separate self-serving institution.
Our primary purpose in Christian education therefore is to encourage the students into an understanding of, and a relationship with, God and His Son Jesus and to develop their minds, souls and bodies to glorify God in whom they live, move and have their being (Acts 17:28).
The school motto is:
TO KNOW HIM, TO LOVE HIM, TO SERVE HIM
When we know God through Jesus, His son, we can love Him by obeying His commands and in doing this we serve Him. Jeremiah 9:23 says, Let not the wise and skillful person glory and boast in his wisdom and skill … but let him glory in this, that he understands and knows me (personally and practically), that I am the Lord who practises loving-kindness, judgement and righteousness in the earth; for in these things I delight says the Lord.
We acknowledge that God is a personal God who takes an intimate interest in each individual and purposes and endows each with differing abilities and giftings. The school will assist the parents with the recognition and development of these specific giftings, encouraging the students to develop them to their full potential in order to realise the full scope of God's plan for their lives.
We believe that God has given us the Bible as His Living Word. Christian education bases its teaching on the Bible which we believe is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). God has given us in His Word a realization of the true purpose of life and therefore we must educate children according to that true purpose.
Our aim is to see, in the application of this philosophy, young people raised up who would choose to put God first in their lives and follow him wholeheartedly, having learned to look at all aspects of life from God's perspective.
