New Head Boy and Head Girl

The 2013 Hebron Christian College Head Boy and Head Girl have been voted in by secondary students and staff. Congratulations to Ben Taylor and Ruth Turner.

Impressive NCEA results

The 2012 Hebron students from Years 11 to 13 have gained very impressive NCEA examPA 468x336 1results. Please join us in congratulating them.

Of last year’s Hebron students sitting NCEA Level 1, 83.5% gained Merit or Excellence endorsement of their NCEA certificate. This endorsement acknowledges that they have gained at least 50 credits at Merit or Excellence – an impressive feat requiring approximately three assessments per subject (on average) to be graded at Merit or Excellence. In comparison during 2011, 75% of Hebron’s Year 11 class gained the same endorsement. Both our 2011 and 2012 results are significantly higher than the national statistics for 2011 (the latest available), which show that 46.2% of Year 11 students sitting NCEA Level 1 around the country gained Merit or Excellence endorsement of their NCEA certificates.

At level 2, 81% of Hebron exam students gained Merit or Excellence endorsement of their Level 2 NCEA certificates. This is significantly higher than the 33% of Hebron Level 2 students in 2011, and the nationwide 2011 figure of 29.5% of Year 12 students sitting NCEA Level 2.

Our 2012 leavers have again given us impressive results. Not only did all students gain University Entrance and pass NCEA Level 3, 50% of the students gained endorsement of their Level 3 certificates with Merit or Excellence. Across the country in 2011, only 49.4% of Year 13 students gained University Entrance and 30.5% were awarded Merit or Excellence endorsement of their Level 3 certificate.

At an individual level, it is also great to see the beaming faces of students who have been aptly rewarded for their hard work. Well done, and keep up the good work this year.
